About
My Story
Programming Potter
Hi, I’m Cynthia, and this is Programming Potter.
I make whimsical pottery. Every piece is functional, but I won’t promise it’s practical. I follow whatever catches my fancy, and right now that’s trees. I sculpt clay trees with room for a light inside, so they glow at night like a little fairy tree on your shelf. I’ve also carved an entire forest into the side of a vase. When I’m not carving, I’m painting with underglaze in soft, watercolor washes.
I’ve taught ceramics for five years, and before that I homeschooled for seven, so I’ve had plenty of practice watching people get stuck and helping them get unstuck. I’m also on the board of the KC Clay Guild as Volunteer Chair.
The name comes from my other job. I’m a software engineer, and when I couldn’t find a studio app that worked the way my brain does, I built one. It’s called My Pottery Studio, and it keeps track of every piece I make, including the ones that don’t survive the kiln.
